Knowing Jesus or Knowing about Jesus:

Do you know Jesus or do you just know about Jesus? If you want to know him personally and let him change your life, keep reading and ask God to open your heart and mind to the truth.

What the Bible Says:

In John 11:25, Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live again . . . they will never perish.” When Jesus died on a cross and rose again, He fulfilled God’s plan to offer you forgiveness and eternal life.

If you want God to do that for you, you have to realize that what separates you from God is sin (disobeying God); and we are all sinners. Romans 3:23 says “…all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Next, you must believe Jesus died to pay for your sin and was resurrected with power to forgive you; and you have to ask him for it. Romans 10:9-10 says “…if you confess with your mouth that ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved; for it is with your heart that you believe…and with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” You cannot get to heaven by doing good deeds or attending church. The Bible says in Ephesians 2:8-9, “It is by God’s grace that you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourself. This is a gift of God, not of works so anyone can boast.”

How to be Forgiven:

If you really want to be forgiven and become an eternal child of God, sincerely pray these few words right now: “God, I have sinned against You and I know I can’t spend eternity with you without being forgiven. I truly believe Jesus died on the cross to pay for my sin and rose from the grave with the power to forgive me. So I now admit all my sin and turn from it to ask You to forgive me and come into my life. Thank You, dear God, for hearing my prayer. You are now the Lord of my life. In Jesus name, Amen.”

What’s Next:

If you sincerely prayed that prayer, you are now a brand new Christian! But, just as a new baby needs nurturing to grow physically, a new child of God also needs nurturing to grow spiritually. Here are some things you can do to begin “growing up” as a Christian.

  1. Tell a pastor or Christian friend you trusted Jesus and ask for help finding a biblically based church near you.
  2. Join a Bible study and get involved with church activities and service.
  3. Join a church and be baptized. Baptism is an outward expression of your inner faith, and allows your church family to celebrate the new life you’ve been given.
  4. Pray and read your Bible – daily.
  5. Tell your story!       Start by emailing me at justin@graceplacechurch.net so I can celebrate with you, pray for you and encourage you. Then tell other people what Jesus did for you.
